I am an only child, the daughter of a loving and warm Barbadian mother, and a Brit father - a Barbadian descendant. My father was a fun lively personality, full of energy, sports talent and musicality. A mechanical engineer and musician - a talented bass player and dancer.
I grew up in the 1980's, in a town just outside London, just a mere 50 minutes train ride into the capital. Having read law, and later going on to study Human Resources. I decided to utilise my creativity, alongside my business sense, with Jewelercise Handmade Jewellery by Serena Fenty.
I opted to join the UK arts and crafts scene instead of social media. It is a vibrant creative space, full of specialist skills and interesting bubbly people. It is a real community full of banter, and is not for the insular! There is a great vibe at the fairs that they run, for both shoppers and designer-crafters, they are a great alternative to the crowded high street. If you want something interesting - foodwise/crafts wise, and want a family day out, they have a real sense of community for those who are sociable and have an inquiring mind.
